Chiropractor's extensive knowledge of healthcare prevented a lot of bad medicine from the Legislature
SANTA FE, N.M. -- Gallup chiropractor Ron Berg was named the Solveras/NFIB Small Business Champion of the Year for New Mexico today.
The honor was conferred upon him by the New Mexico Leadership Council of the National Federation of Independent Business and Solveras Payment Systems, one of the nation's leading payment processing companies for small business. Each year, NFIB and Solveras single out a small business owner in all 50 states for special recognition and honor him or her with their prestigious Small Business Champion of the Year award. This is the fifth year NFIB has recognized small business owners who go the extra mile for their fellow entrepreneurs and the first year Solveras has joined in.
"Dr. Berg is an invaluable resource on healthcare, especially as it relates to the particular problems of small business owners to acquire, afford, and keep it," said Karin Foster, NFIB/New Mexico state director. "He spent countless hours at the Roundhouse last session, educating legislators and the executive branch on the many potential pitfalls and problems with their healthcare proposals. His expert opinion probably saved New Mexico from establishing a cure worse than the disease."
Says Berg, "Healthcare solutions needn't be complicated, expensive, or require excessive governmental involvement. Free market principles and incentives will work to repair the healthcare system. Neither HMO's nor insurance equals health. Motivated and informed individuals equal health."
Ron W. Berg, D.C. has been a healthcare professional in Gallup for more than 21 years. The father of eight children, Dr. Berg is still raising his youngest twin boys. In addition to his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, he has a master's in Education and one in Anthropology. Dr. Berg is a former Gallup High School Guild Career Explorations Mentor and former soccer coach at the school. He also is a former director of the Navajo Head Start Program and an originator of the "Adventure' Gallup Economic Development project and trail system.
Other community involvements of Berg's include serving as a director for the Gallup Chamber of Commerce, chairman for the Rehobeth McKinley Christian Hospital Health Fair, and state coach of the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association. He also has been a past president of the New Mexico Chiropractors Association and former vice chairman of the New Mexico Board of Chiropractors Examiners. Berg can be reached for further comment at 505-863-9554.
