Kevin Tubbesing will represent Kansas in 11-state regional competition

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Kevin Tubbesing, president of Stag Commercial in Shawnee, has been named the Solveras/NFIB Small Business Champion for Kansas by the National Federation of Independent Business.

"Kevin has proven himself over the years to be a true supporter of NFIB and small business," said Derrick Sontag, state director of NFIB/Kansas, the state's leading small business association. "Kevin goes out of his way to help small business, not just at home but across the state."

Tubbesing, an NFIB member for six years, is past chairman of the NFIB Leadership Council, a volunteer group that advises the association on issues affecting small business owners. He attends NFIB events throughout the state and has volunteered many times to testify before legislative committees on bills concerning small business issues. He has contributed to NFIB's political action committee, the Save America's Free Enterprise Trust, and routinely recruits other business owners to join NFIB.

In the 1990s, Tubbesing founded CIO Inc., a technology infrastructure and support company, which he sold in 2005. The following year, he formed Stag to assist clients in increasing the value of their commercial property. He also operates Cellaring Solutions, a wine storage/cellaring solutions company.

Tubbesing served in the U.S. Army/Army Reserves from 1991-99. He was a Shawnee planning commissioner from 2000-05 and served on the Shawnee City Council from 2005-06. Tubbesing is past president of the Shawnee Rotary Club and chairs the Wonderscope Children's Museum's board of directors. He also has been selected as a member of the 2008 class of the Kansas Chamber's Leadership Kansas, a program aimed at developing future state leaders.

"Kevin gives to his community and embodies the entrepreneurial spirit," Sontag said. "We are grateful for Kevin's help in helping fulfill NFIB's mission to promote and protect the right of its members to own, operate and grow their businesses."
