Kathern Jennings a true friend of small business, NFIB

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Kathern Jennings, owner of Master One Tax Services in Morgantown, has been named the 2008 Solveras/NFIB Small Business Champion for Kentucky by the National Federation of Independent Business.

"Kathern is a well-respected member of the Morgantown business community who will do anything and everything within her power to help small business, not just in Butler County but across the Commonwealth," said Tom Underwood, state director of NFIB/Kentucky, the state's leading small business association.

Jennings opened her business in 1976 as a franchise of a national tax preparer. She opened Master One Tax Services in 1989 and joined NFIB in 1996. Master One, which has five full-time and six part-time employees, also offers a variety of payroll and employer services.

Jennings chairs the Butler County Citizens Advisory Panel and is a board member and treasurer of Morgantown Mission, a nonprofit organization that is an outreach to the community. She also works closely with the Morgantown Sister Cities program, organizing activities and coordinating host families for visitors from Morgantown's sister city of Nanou City, Japan.

Underwood said Jennings generally prefers to work quietly behind the scenes. "She doesn't like to call attention to herself, but Kathern is a true friend to small business and truly deserves this award."
