Mark White has been a tireless supporter of small businesses, NFIB
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The National Federation of Independent Business, Tennessee's leading small business association, has named Mark White its 2008 Small Business Champion in Tennessee.
"Mark deserves this award because of the many contributions he's made to small business in Tennessee," said Jim Brown, state director of NFIB/Tennessee. "He has made a tremendous difference to small business owners in West Tennessee and around the state."
Mark White, who co-founded Grand Events & Party Rentals in Memphis in 1990, has been a member of NFIB for 14 years and a member of the NFIB state Leadership Council since 2006. He has been chairman of the NFIB Memphis Area Action Council since its inception four years ago. The Area Action Council is a group of small business owners that meets regularly to discuss key issues with lawmakers.
"NFIB's Area Action Councils are an important forum for small business owners to communicate with their legislators," Brown said. "Mark's leadership has made the Memphis Area Action Council one of NFIB's most active and successful."
White works tirelessly on behalf of NFIB. He contributes annually to NFIB/Tennessee's SAFE Trust, which works at the grassroots level in statewide political campaigns, and supports NFIB's Young Entrepreneur Foundation, which promotes free enterprise in the classroom.
"NFIB is committed to promoting and protecting the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses. Mark is, too," Brown said.
White said, "We have a good team in the Memphis area and we enjoy working with each other, so the effort is not hard. Small business is the backbone of our economy. Protection of small business is so vital to the lives and incomes of so many people."
