Advocate Energy Equity for Small Business
Sensing an opportunity for more money to spend, some lawmakers are pursuing legislation supported by the big power companies that would end competition and restore their monopoly position in the marketplace. In exchange for the favor, the power monopolies would be allowed to charge higher fees and taxes on customers that would be returned to Lansing as money to spend. Estimates are that such a scheme could result in half a billion or more dollars in new revenue to the state. Small business and citizens would foot the bill for this scheme.
NFIB will be working to be sure that "hidden taxes" are not placed on the energy bills of small businesses.
