As Election Day approaches, small business owners don't have to sit back and simply hope the country elects a pro-small business candidate as president. It's crucial that your voice is heard at the ballot box, and it's not too early to start spreading the word now. There are several ways that you can get involved to make a difference in November, and NFIB is here to help.
Get out the vote. Encourage your employees, family members, friends and business associates to vote. Remind them of how important it is that small business is represented on Election Day, and make sure they are aware of early voting and absentee ballot options.
Get smart. As a representative of the small business community, it's important that you know what's at stake. NFIB's exclusive Presidential Election Center, available to members only, delivers the content you need to stay knowledgeable about the candidates and where they stand on important small business issues. Also available to NFIB members is NFIB's How Congress Voted report, which reviews how legislative candidates have helped or hurt small business by detailing their voting records. And be sure to sign up for e-mail updates to get the latest political news delivered straight to your inbox.
Educate your employees. Laws and regulations that affect small business don't just affect you--they affect your employees, too. The success of a small business owner lets them offer higher wages and better benefits, and it's critical that employees are informed about issues affecting their business. NFIB.com/PoliticsAtWork features several resources on how to talk to employees about small business issues and offers brochures and payroll stuffers in easy-to-print formats.
Contribute to NFIB's SAFE Trust Political Action Committee. Your contribution will directly impact the election of pro-small business candidates on the federal level. Making a donation is one of the easiest ways to get involved and to show big business, big labor and big government that your livelihood is important to the nation and its economy.
Stay tuned to NFIB.com/politics for more information on the upcoming elections and how you can get involved.
