Senate Finance Committee Votes to Make Property Tax Cut Permanent
01/17/2008

Vote is first step toward preventing large tax hike

PHOENIX -- On Jan. 16, the Senate Financed Committee approved SB1002, a measure which would make permanent a state property tax cut that was first passed during the 2006 legislative session. The vote was 5-3. Should no further action be taken on this issue, the tax cut will expire in 2009.

"SB 1002 is one of NFIB's top agenda items for the 2008 legislative session," Michelle Bolton, NFIB/Arizona state director, said. "In uncertain times like these, it is not a good idea to allow a tax cut to expire, essentially raising property taxes on small businesses and hard working people in Arizona."

The bill moves to the full Senate for consideration.
