Small Business Wins in Ohio, Virginia
12/12/2007

Yesterday, voters in Ohio and Virginia elected two new pro-small-business Congressmen by wide margins. Despite recent wins in the state legislature, Virginia Democrats failed to challenge state Delegate Rob Wittman in the race to succeed the late Rep. Jo Ann Davis. With a record of supporting small business in the Virginia Legislature, Wittman defeated Iraq War veteran Phil Forgit with 60 percent of the vote.

Republican State Rep. Bob Latta, a champion of small business in the Ohio legislature, defeated frequent candidate Robin Weirauch. Even as the national Democratic Party spent $250,000 in the race, Latta, an NFIB member, secured a win with 57 percent of the vote. Weirauch drew fire from many groups for signing the controversial card-check pledge, which would deprive workers of secret ballot elections. Latta will occupy a seat his father held for 30 years.
