September Tax Collections Above Estimate

The Pennsylvania state revenue secretary reported the state collected $2.5 billion in taxes in September, the third month of the 2007-08 fiscal year. The September total was $54.5 million or 2.3 percent more than had been anticipated.

Sales tax receipts totaled $688.3 million, personal income tax (PIT) revenue in September was $997.8 million, corporation tax revenue of $553.7 million, $58.8 million in inheritance tax, realty transfer tax was $35.5 million. Other General Fund revenue -- including the cigarette, malt beverage and liquor tax -- totaled $130.5 million for the month. The Motor License Fund received $199.5 million for the month.
