Nation’s top ranked firm will manage NFIB’s Employment Law Hotline
Washington, D.C.--The National Federation of Independent Business announced a new partnership today with Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest and most successful labor and employment law firms. Ogletree Deakins will manage NFIB’s Employment Law Hotline, a service available to NFIB members who seek basic answers to employment law questions.
The Hotline is set up so that NFIB small-business owners can call toll-free and leave a message for an attorney from Ogletree Deakins, P.C., regarding an employment law issue. Within 24 hours, an attorney will return the call and provide information about the issue. The Ogletree Deakins attorneys answer basic questions about employment law and also advise small-business owners about whether they need to seek additional legal counsel.
Employment Law 360, the online news service for the employment law community, reported in February that during 2006, companies facing federal employment discrimination suits turned to Ogletree Deakins more often than any other firm in America. This was confirmed by a recent Martindale-Hubbell study showing that Ogletree Deakins defended more employment discrimination lawsuits than any other firm from May 2005 – 2007. Ogletree Deakins represents over two-thirds of the Fortune 50 businesses, as well as numerous other national and regional clients, from retailers with outlets in all fifty states to start-up companies, universities, hospitals, trade associations, financial institutions and government instrumentalities.
"We are extremely excited about our partnership with Ogletree Deakins. Knowing that the best employment law firm in the nation is taking care of our members' questions ensures that NFIB members will be receiving excellent legal advice," said Karen Harned, executive director of NFIB's Legal Foundation.
The Employment Law Hotline is administered by NFIB Member Services and is a unique benefit to NFIB members. The employment law issues that Ogletree Deakins addresses for NFIB members include: compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act; wage and hour, discrimination, immigration, and unemployment compensation issues; labor and management relations; occupational safety and health requirements; pension and health benefits and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act; the Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act; and non-compete and employment agreements.
The Hotline started accepting calls April 1, 2006, and is available to NFIB members only. For more information, please call 800-NFIB-NOW (800-634-2669).
