Sen. Valde Garcia Supports Services Tax
State Sen. Valde Garcia, from the Howell-Brighton area, has made it known that he prefers a sales tax on services in a lengthy voice message that greets callers to his Senate office number (800-516-0026). In an excerpt from the lengthy message, Sen. Garcia states:
"If there is a tax increase, it will probably be a combination of an increased income tax and expansion of the sales tax to some services. I prefer the sales tax because there at least you have a choice, with an income tax you don't." (Emphasis added).
