NFIB/California Applauds the Rejection of ACA 8

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The National Federation of Independent Business and a coalition of business and taxpayer groups today successfully defeated a bait-and-switch eminent domain reform in the form of ACA 8.

John Kabateck, executive director of the NFIB/California, issued a statement today about the defeat of ACA 8:

"Small business will not be placed at the altar of government redevelopment schemes and private developers. ACA 8 did not offer real Kelo reforms because it did not apply protections to all property and most specifically, it excluded businesses, small and large alike."

"We support the legitimate use of this government power for projects that benefit the public, not private developers or cities seeking to line their own pockets. We look forward to working with all parties to resolve this most critical issue and provide real property protections for all property owners."
