Prohibit Government Competition Against Private Enterprise
NFIB small business owners routinely face unfair competition from non-profit organizations and government agencies that sell goods or services already available from taxpaying businesses. Unfair competition costs communities millions in lost tax revenues and scores of private-sector jobs.
NFIB members support:
- Legislation to prohibit state and local government from competing against private enterprise; and
- Legislation to prohibit strategic sourcing -- the practice of bundling of state contracts into packages that are too big for small business to compete for.
