Recently, Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher sought federal assistance for the Lake Cumberland Region due to the below-average water levels. The U.S. Small Business Administration responded favorably and issued an administrative declaration of an economic injury disaster for 13 counties in Kentucky and four in Tennessee. The proceeds of the loan may be used for working capital necessary to carry on the concern until resumption of normal operations and for expenditures necessary to alleviate the specific economic injury.
These loans are available to the following counties:
Kentucky: Clinton, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Wayne, Adair Casey, Clay Cumberland, Jackson, Knox, Lincoln, Rockcastle and Whitley
Tennessee: Campbell, Clay, Pickett and Scott
It is important to know that the governor's office and the SBA recognize the consequences of such an economic disaster and are willing to make available the appropriate resources for small-business maintenance and growth. NFIB supports the efforts of both the governor's office and the SBA by providing the loan eligibility requirements to its membership in the effected counties.
