In the year since NFIB's Legal Foundation launched the Employment Law Hotline, this unique service has logged more than 600 calls from NFIB members. In addition, a poll of callers indicated that 80 percent were satisfied with the advice they received, and 82 percent would refer the service to other members.
The hotline provides NFIB members with exclusive access to expert legal advice on employment law. During the past 12 months, the most frequently discussed issues were (in order):
- Workers' compensation and medical and disability issues, including the Americans With Disabilities Act
- Termination of an employee
- Overtime, wages and hours information
- Benefits and unemployment compensation
Another frequent reason for hotline calls is to request Legal Foundation advisory materials or employment-related materials. In response to this demand, the Legal Foundation is creating an additional publication to provide value to members: answers to the hotline's most frequently asked questions.
