Mercer County Commissioner and small-business owner Jim Zehringer was selected by the House Republican Caucus to fill the open 77th House District seat. The seat was vacated when former Rep. Keith Faber was appointed to the Ohio Senate.

Zehringer, the owner of Meiring Poultry and Fish Farm, will be seated on Feb. 13 and will serve out the remainder of the two-year term. His district encompasses Mercer, Preble and portions of Darke County.
