Bad Check Collection in Mississippi
Issue Overview: One can currently receive certain statutory fees when collecting on a bad check; however, unlike an open account, one cannot recover for attorney's fees related to the collection process. This usually assures a guaranteed loss of profit for a business when having to utilize a collection attorney.

Issue Status: A committee substitute for SB 2431 by Sen. Gray Tollison (Oxford) has passed the Senate and now goes to the House. It has not yet been referred to a House committee, but must pass out of such committee by a Feb. 27 deadline.
