Health Insurance in North Carolina

With the continued rising costs of health care, employers are finding it increasingly difficult to offer health insurance to their employees in today's competitive market.
NFIB Position: NFIB has been very proactive on this issue working with legislators, insurance carriers, other business associations and members across the state to find a solution to this growing problem. NFIB will continue to support proposals that help the small-business community access the market and remain competitive with big business.
Issue Status: Bills have been introduced over the past several years to help alleviate some of the increasing costs to small-business employers. Bipartisan support currently exists to develop a plan to address the issue. NFIB will continue to work with legislators to find commonsense solutions to the health-care crisis and communicate opportunities with members to affect public policy.
What to Do: Pay close attention to any correspondence from NFIB or your legislators to know when legislation is introduced on this issue. It is crucial for NFIB members to communicate concerns and convey support or opposition to key health-care bills. Find your legislators at http://www.ncleg.net.
What to Say: NFIB members continue to experience premium increases as high as 40 percent annually. Legislators need to hear firsthand from their small-businesses constituents.
