The 2008 political races are gearing up, and the control of Congress will be at stake again this fall. As the political fields and candidates start to make their moves, NFIB will let you know which candidates and races to watch. 2008 Races: Governors
Eleven states will hold elections for governor. Of that group, two sitting governors are term-limited. Democrats are defending six state houses, including Washington, which was one of the closest races in 2004. Republicans are seeking to hold on to five states, including Missouri and Indiana.
2008 Races: U.S. Senate
The terms of 35 senators will expire in January 2009, and many of them are expected to seek reelection. Given the slight majority, look for many of these races to be competitive.
2008 Races: U.S. House of Representatives
All 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives will be up for election this November. After a contentious term between the Republican and Democratic leadership teams, there are a growing number of open seats, primarily among Republican members.
