NFIB/Washington Launches New Safety Program and CD Designed to Give Businesses a Break on L&I Safety Audits and Fines

Under current state law, all employers in Washington state must have an accident prevention plan, and all businesses are subject to enforcement audits from the State Department of Labor and Industries. Safety violations uncovered by these random audits can lead to steep, unexpected fines and penalties levied by L&I. To help with this dilemma, NFIB has entered into a "first of its kind" agreement with Labor & Industries in conjunction with the Evergreen Safety Council. This agreement establishes a comprehensive safety program and gives NFIB member businesses a break on L&I safety audits and fines should they occur.
It's all in the safety CD and safety plan
It begins with the NFIB/Washington Safety CD. This safety CD acts as a blue print for identifying workplace hazards, creates an employee written safety manual, and initiates an employee accident prevention plan all per the Washington Department of Safety and Health requirements. The cost of the CD for NFIB members is only $60 (plus $9 for tax, shipping and handling) and can be ordered through the Evergreen Safety Council. In exchange for purchasing the safety CD and developing the business accident prevention plan, participants will be issued a "Certificate of Completion" by the Evergreen Safety Council. If any violations are found during a subsequent L&I audit, fines can be reduced if the participating business takes corrective action and complies within 30 days.
Safety CDs are now available, so order your copy now by visiting ESC's NFIB safety page or calling the Evergreen Safety Council at (800) 521-0778.
