NFIB Helps Teens Follow Entrepreneurial Dream
11/15/2006

Young Entrepreneur Foundation now accepting applications for 2007 scholarship award program

NFIB began accepting applications this week for the 2007 Young Entrepreneur Awards, a scholarship program for high-school seniors designed to help teen small-business owners follow their entrepreneurial dream.

High-school seniors or students preparing to enter their freshman year at an accredited, nonprofit two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute are eligible to apply for the award. While applicants should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, an officially established business is not a requirement.

Winners of the Young Entrepreneur Award will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000. Five regional awards of $5,000 each will be awarded, and one national winner will receive $10,000. New in the 2007 program, one renewable award will be given in each of the five regions across the country.

Apply online or request a hard-copy version of the application from Chantel Bartlett at Chantel.Bartlett@nfib.org. The deadline to apply for the 2007 scholarship is Feb. 12.

The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award program began in 2003, when it awarded a total of 110 scholarships. Last year, this number rose to 408, thanks to additional financial support.
