Gov. Bob Riley, center, traveled across the state with members of NFIB's Southeast team, including (l to r) Alabama Grassroots Coordinator Valerie Hughes, Alabama State Director Rosemary Elebash, Region Public Policy Director Russell Palk and Political Director Jennifer Hatten.

Former business owner and Alabama Gov. Bob Riley received the endorsement of NFIB's Save America's Free Enterprise Trust in recognition of his championing of small business in his first term. Before his election as governor, Riley had a 100 percent favorable voting record on NFIB Key Votes.

"I've said this ever since I first got into politics: If there is any one organization that I would want to support me, if there was only one I could choose, it would be NFIB," said Riley at a noon press conference at the Jetsouth hangar at the Birmingham airport.

NFIB's endorsement is critical for Riley. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and actively recruit friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB/Alabama will actively support Riley through its grassroots network of small-business owners.

"Governor Riley has been an outstanding leader for Alabama's small-business owners in his first term," NFIB/Alabama State Director Rosemary Elebash said. "Alabama is friendlier to entrepreneurs in large part due to Governor Riley's willingness to tackle important small-business issues. NFIB's small-business members wholeheartedly endorse Bob Riley for another term."
