NFIB Helps Voters Support Free Enterprise
09/21/2006

Election Day is less than two months away--are you ready to vote? From state election deadlines to candidate profiles, NFIB has all the tools you'll need to make an informed decision at the ballot box in this crucial election year for small business.

NFIB knows that as a small-business owner, you're too busy to keep track of what's happening every day on Capitol Hill. So we monitor your lawmakers and tell you who's helping (or hurting) your business. Consider the issues most important to you--issues like access to affordable health care, real and lasting tax relief and eliminating lawsuit abuse--when casting your ballot Nov. 7.

Voting is one of the most important actions you can take to ensure the voice of small business is heard. As an NFIB member, you have access to many resources that can help you prepare for Election Day and stand up for small business at the ballot box:

  • State voter guides: Get information about candidates in state and congressional races in your district, as well as key election dates, polling locations and other voter details.
  • Key-race spotlight: NFIB is keeping tabs on the House and Senate races that are deemed some of the closest in the nation. Many of the candidates involved are NFIB Guardian of Small Business award recipients.
  • Endorsed candidates (60 KB, PDF): Organized by state, this report (for NFIB members only) lists which candidates NFIB's federal political action committee, the NFIB SAFE Trust, supports in the upcoming election.
  • Politics at Work: Laws and regulations affecting small businesses also affect employees, and activating their vote is extremely important. If you're not sure how to discuss politics with your employees, NFIB has several free brochures and a video to help. As educated voters, your employees will be able to make decisions at the polls to benefit small business--and therefore themselves.
  • Get-Out-the-Vote poster: To help spread the word that each vote counts, NFIB is offering this free poster to download and display in your business. Place the poster in a high-traffic area to serve as a reminder that one of the best ways to ensure the voice of small business is heard is to vote on or before Nov. 7. (A larger, full-color version of the poster is also available.)
