Rockford Businessman Named NFIB/Illinois' Small-Business Champion The National Federation of Independent Business, America's leading small-business advocacy group, today named Skip Trotter, vice president of operations for Trotter Manufacturing, its "Small-Business Champion" for Illinois. Each year, NFIB recognizes a small-business owner in each of the 50 states with the "Small-Business Champion" award for their achievements in business and their outstanding support of entrepreneurship.
From Landfills to Capitol Hill, Mike Nobis Makes Activism a Priority Mike Nobis first became involved with NFIB in 1999 when a landfill close to his business in Quincy, Ill., was converted into a Superfund site. An NFIB member in the area contacted the organization about holding an informational meeting and Nobis was invited to attend. After attending that meeting and getting a glimpse of what NFIB stands for, Nobis decided to join the organization and immediately made the Superfund issue a top concern.
