In 1972, Chuck Mott was one of the incorporators and principals who set up BAX Global, which became a multibillion dollar transportation company. Today, Mott is the second-generation owner of Innovative Vacuum Services, a small business in Edmonds, Wash.
In 1993, the Washington Legislature passed a bill mandating employee health insurance, and the governor signed it. Mott and other NFIB members lobbied hard for repealand won. A few years later, he became the only small-business representative on the 46-member Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Transportation. Mott, a former railroad man, said the bipartisan group produced recommendations addressing all phases of transportation and most of them have been implemented.
As chair of the NFIB Washington PAC board, Mott worked with others last October to raise money for the fall campaigns. He supports NFIB's Young Entrepreneur Foundation and the Legal Foundation. He has testified before the state legislature and maintains close contact with his federal and state representatives, and speaks for NFIB to national and local media.
