Mandated Health Insurance
Issue Overview: A 9534 would require all private and non-profit companies with more than 10,000 employees to pay a tax equal to the difference between their actual health-care costs and 8 percent of total wages (6 percent of total wages for non-profits), to fund a special revenue fund to be utilized by the Office of Children and Family Services and Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance for various purposes.
NFIB Position: NFIB members have consistently opposed mandated health insurance, and point to Maryland where a bill was just introduced to lower that state's mandated health-care bill from more than 10,000 employees to all companies with less than 10,000 employees.
Issue Status: Referred to Assembly Codes Committee. No hearings scheduled.
