From left to right: Jim Beech receives his 60-year member plaque from NFIB/Michigan State Director Charlie Owens and State Rep. Michael Nofs (R-Battle Creek). |
Founded in 1943, NFIB has been fighting for small business and free enterprise for more than 60 years. But you don't have to tell Jim Beech, owner of Beech & Rich Inc., about that. His company, engaged in the business of commercial and industrial painting, joined NFIB in 1945. Long before computers, fax machines and high-speed laser printers were commonplace, Beech's business helped collect and tally NFIB member ballots from the Battle Creek-area members.
While technology has changed the process of collecting and tabulating member ballots, one thing has not changed. NFIB still gets its marching orders directly from the membership who set our policy position on issues by way of the member ballot. How important is that?
"That is what sets NFIB apart from all the other business groups", Beech said. "I know that my vote counts, and that is why we have been members since the very beginning."
Thanks for your help and support, Jim!
