Speak Up for Small Business: Vote Your Member Ballot Today
09/01/2005

As Congress returns from its break after Labor Day, make sure NFIB and your lawmakers know your views on the issues most important to small business--vote your NFIB Member Ballot!

The new Ballot seeks NFIB member input on a number of issues that may come before Congress in the next few months:

  • Should Congress mandate that individuals above a certain income level be required to purchase health insurance?
  • Should credit card companies be allowed to require merchants to accept premium or rewards credit cards?
  • Should government spending be capped at inflation plus population growth?
  • Do you favor a paid family and medical leave plan?
  • Do you think the government should increase the pension fund contribution rate for companies with defined-benefit pension plans?

Make a difference
NFIB is a unique organization. Unlike most other national associations, there is no board or staff consensus that dictates our lobbying positions. Your opinion is critical to your lawmaker -- and NFIB tallies the votes of all 600,000 members and sends the results to Capitol Hill so that your lawmakers will know how their votes affect small business.

Help NFIB be your best advocate by voting your Member Ballot today. It's simple and just takes a few moments. NFIB members can vote online using the link to the right, or by phone, fax or mail using the printed ballot. If you're not already a member of NFIB, join today to link your voice with 600,000 other small-business owners nationwide who are already working together to fight for small business.

Be involved
The message just begins when you vote today. You can also make a difference for small business -- including your own -- by contacting your lawmakers directly. As soon as Congress returns in September, they'll be considering critical small-business issues like permanent repeal of the death tax. After you vote your Member Ballot today, take the next step and contact your lawmakers to tell your personal story.

Be connected
Voting the Member Ballot can be as simple as opening your e-mail. Make sure that NFIB has your e-mail address on record, and we'll be glad to e-mail you when the next Ballot is ready. Don't miss an opportunity to make your voice heard!
