Small-business owners in 26 states continue to show optimism about the state of local economies and sales, though a few states in the National Federation of Independent Business' current Small-Business Conditions survey are dealing with difficult business environments, according to the surveys.
Released today, the Small-Business Conditions report is the third in a series of quarterly reports on the current status of the small-business economy and environment in 26 states across the country. (Use the links at right to review individual state surveys and data.)
In addition, each state's survey looks at its results in the context of neighboring states' data to provide comparative regional data.
"The success of small business is driving the nation's economy, and the small-business community is creating two-thirds of America's new jobs," says NFIB Senior Research Fellow William J. Dennis, who leads the survey effort. "The NFIB Small-Business Conditions project allows NFIB to more closely examine the condition of the small-business climate in a particular state and provide the media covering the small-business community with up-to-date data and analysis."
