The Maryland General Assembly adjourned in April, but not before sending Gov. Ehrlich legislation that increased the minimum wage and required employers with 10,000 or more employees to pay for mandatory health-care benefits for employees.
The good news is that Gov. Ehrlich vetoed these bills. The bad news is that the Maryland General Assembly is poised to override his vetoes unless you and other small-business owners act to prevent this from happening.

The General Assembly could act to override the vetoes either during a special session or when they reconvene in January. It is critical for you to act now and contact your elected officials to ask them to stand with you and other small-business owners by sustaining the governor’s vetoes. You can also see how your lawmakers voted on these important small-business issues.
Update: Although the General Assembly voted to override Gov. Erlich's health-care veto Jan. 12, there is still time to contact your lawmakers and urge them to sustain the minimum-wage veto. The House is expected to vote the week of Jan. 16.
We encourage you to share this important information with your local business partners and organizations so they, too, can take action.
