NFIB and Department of Labor Form Alliance to Help Small Businesses Comply With Employment Laws
Ever have questions regarding employment law issues such as pay and overtime, family and medical leave, or workplace safety and health, but don't know where to turn for answers?
Although you might not think so, the U.S. Department of Labor can help you answer these questions. The U.S. Department of Labor is committed to providing business owners with clear and easy-to-access information about federal employment laws.
Now, a newly created alliance between NFIB and DOL will:
- Strengthen DOL's commitment to assist employers.
- Provide NFIB members with direct access to DOL's compliance assistance information and guidance materials.
- Include a variety of activities to educate NFIB members and others in the small-business community about how to more effectively comply with existing federal labor law.
"NFIB is tremendously pleased to be partnering with the Department of Labor," says NFIB Senior Vice President Dan Danner.
Helping hand rather than menacing fist philosophy
The partnership will focus on several areas to aid small-business owners with the following resources:
- Helping employers determine which labor laws apply to their business
- Assisting small businesses with overtime and other FLSA requirements
- Alerting NFIB members to newly available resources and rule changes
