Vital bills on business property taxes and medical malpractice reforms advance up legislative ladder

Today – Health Ways and Means Committee hears House Bill 2508. The measure seeks to make Arizona's business property tax structure fairer for small business, and it provides some tax relief. Mesa businessman and NFIB Leadership Council member Kirk Adams will testify on behalf of passage.

Tomorrow – The House Appropriations Committee takes up HB 2508. This is one of NFIB/Arizona's top legislative issues and will be scored as a Key Vote for the purpose of issuing an end-of-session report card on lawmakers' actions.

This week – The full Senate votes on Senate Bill 1036, which would reform the state's medical malpractice laws. The cost and availability of health care has been the No. 1 concern of small-business owners across the nation for the past 18 consecutive years. This also is one of NFIB/Arizona's top legislative issues and will be scored a Key Vote for the purpose of issuing an end-of-session report card on lawmakers' actions.

Note to editors – A 550-word Op-Ed/Backgrounder on Senate Bill 1036 will be sent to our regular e-mail list of media this week. It is free for use as content for your publications or as background material for related stores. If you are not already on NFIB/Arizona's e-mail list, you can request to be added at Anthony.Malandra@NFIB.org.
