Memorandum in Support of Michigan Inactive Asbestos Docketing System--Fighting for a Legal System That Protects the Sick

The NFIB Legal Foundation and other leading business groups have supported a legal petition calling on the state's Supreme Court to reevaluate and improve the way Michigan courts handle the huge backlog of asbestos cases filed in the state by creating an "inactive docket" or scheduling system. This system would ensure that the cases of the sickest asbestos claimants are heard first.

Status: DECIDED. Memorandum filed Aug. 20, 2003. Court adopted inactive docket procedure Aug. 9, 2006.
