Laura Stromberg most recently served as the communications director and press secretary to Independent gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman. Prior to joining the campaign, she held various positions at public relations firms Edelman and Weber Shandwick Worldwide, where she managed a wide range of clients, from multinational corporations to entrepreneurial start-ups and non-profit organizations.

Stromberg has also served as a reporter for the Associated Press and the Houston Business Journal and a copy editor at the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune and the San Antonio Express-News. She is a recipient of the Texas Public Relations Society of America Silver Spur Award and The Jake Wittmer Research Award (IABC Research Foundation). She has held internship positions at Texas Monthly magazine, the Houston Chronicle and the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund. 

She holds degrees in English and journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.
