Treasury Secretary Recognizes Small Business’s Role in Economy’s Recovery

6/17/2004

Secretary of Treasury John Snow thanked America’s entrepreneurs for their role in getting the nation’s economy back on track at NFIB’s National Small Business Summit on Thursday morning.

Snow recognized the major influence NFIB members played in convincing Congress to pass tax reform last summer.

"The Jobs and Growth Act is working," said Snow in a video address to the attendees. "Jobs are being created and your help was essential."

While the economy is improving, Snow told small-business owners that there is still work to be done, especially when it comes to making the recent tax cuts permanent.

"Most important is to deal with the death tax, which is a major burden on small and independent businesses," said Snow.

The secretary also praised NFIB for its vital role in representing Main Street and ensuring small-business interests are heard in Washington.

"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you’ve done to make America a more prosperous and better place."
