Small-Business Owners to Meet With Lawmakers

Rising health insurance costs are at the top of many NFIB members' minds as they gather in Washington this week for the NFIB National Small Business Summit.
Many of the small-business owners will meet with their lawmakers this week while they're in D.C. for NFIB’s biennial meeting, and issues like health-care costs and permanent tax relief will be on their agendas.
Wednesday through Friday, NFIB members will also hear from policymakers and learn skills that will make them better activists.
President Bush will address the summit delegates Thursday.
In addition to President Bush, public figures scheduled to participate in the summit include:
- U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert
- Commerce Secretary Don Evans
- Labor Secretary Elaine Chao
- Small Business Administrator Hector Barreto
- U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist
- Former White House Communications Director Karen Hughes
- Political pundits Charlie Cook and Stu Rothenberg
- Grammy-Award winning entertainer Lee Greenwood
- Nationally known radio talk-show hosts such as Jim Blasingame, Jim Bohannan, Blanquita Cullum, Les Kinsolving, Phil Valentine and Armstrong Williams
