NFIB: Small Business Continues to Add to Job Creation
06/04/2004

In response to employment numbers released today by the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, NFIB Senior Vice President Dan Danner made the following statement:

"The employment numbers released today reaffirm what many in the small-business community are seeing - a strong and steady rise in job growth. From industry to industry and region to region, today's numbers illustrate a balanced hiring picture with jobs being created everywhere.

"According to recent NFIB economic reports, small-business owners once again added employees in May. Many economists continue to confirm that the positive effects of President Bush's tax policies have spurred the numbers posted today. NFIB's Main Street small-business owners agree. A critical component of small-business success is a fair, consistent and reliable tax code that creates jobs and fosters growth. America's small-business owners do their part every day to move America forward. The U.S. Congress can build on this growth by taking action now to make permanent the tax-relief polices that are essential to the success of small business."

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is the nation's largest small-business advocacy group. A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB represents the consensus views of its 600,000 members in Washington and all 50 state capitals. NFIB's 2004 National Small Business Summit will be held June 16-18 in Washington, D.C. More information is available online at www.NFIB.com/summit.
