Malaise Murphy
Assistant State Director/Member Support Manager
Malaise Murphy serves as the member support manager for the central region of the National Federation of Independent Business.
Her responsibilities include establishing member activism programs to advance the pro-small-business agenda through lobbying U.S. elected officials, the Texas governor's administration and state legislators. She also helps coordinate responses to national, state and local media inquires; coordinates press conferences; communicates key message points; drafts press releases; develops media contact databases and implements earned media strategies.
Working with NFIB members throughout the region, Murphy promotes NFIB's lobbying efforts through educational presentations, identifying and training NFIB member witnesses, attending hearings, creating issue alerts and raising NFIB's visibility and clout through the use of earned media.
Prior to joining NFIB, Murphy worked as a technical recruiter for Trilogy Software. Because of her business acumen, she was selected to coordinate the development of CollegeHire.com an online recruitment and technical placement system that was responsible for placing thousands of college level and graduate school level graduates in the workplace. In 1999, she received the Triology Business Unit Award for her work and leadership at CollegeHire.com.
Murphy's political experience includes work in the Texas State Capitol and work in the legislative office and the re-election campaign of then Governor George W. Bush.
Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science in speech communication from the University of Texas at Austin.
