Demonstrate the Power of Small Business at the Summit
04/14/2004

Do you want to rub elbows with like-minded small-business owners and some of the most powerful lawmakers in Washington, all at the same time? Then you'll want to be at the 2004 NFIB National Small Business Summit, being held June 16-18 in Washington, D.C.

At the Summit you'll hear from Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, Commerce Secretary Don Evans, Small Business Administrator Hector Barreto, former White House Communications Director Karen Hughes and many more.

"This Summit comes just four and a half months before one of the most important elections in our nation's history," said NFIB President Jack Faris. "It is essential that small-business owners let policymakers know their concerns now, and make sure their voices are heard in November."

As a Summit participant, you can also take part in sessions that will help you run your business when you get back home. Learn how to:

  • Find affordable health care
  • Comply with labor laws
  • Prepare for security threats and disasters
  • Evaluate your business's worth
  • Understand changes to the tax code
  • Understand your insurance needs
  • Take advantage of SBA programs

Other sessions will teach you how to get involved in a political campaign and how to work with the media.

"We want to send the message to those running for election this year that small-business owners will be active in the campaigns and out in force on Election Day," Faris said. "Your presence at the Summit will help send that message."
