ARIZONA, December 11, 2003 -- Arizona's largest small-business advocacy group, NFIB, presented the "Small-Business Champion" award to Kirk Adams, owner of The Adams Agency, at a meeting of NFIB/Arizona small-business leaders. A member of the NFIB/Arizona Leadership Council nominated Adams for the award.
The NFIB Small-Business Champion award program identifies a small-business activist in each of the 50 states. These small-business owners have distinguished themselves through their involvement and participation in NFIB programs and activities that promote the issues important to Main Street. Seven regional winners will be honored at the 2004 National Small-Business Summit in Washington, D.C., June 16-18.
NFIB/Arizona State Director Michelle Bolton praised Adams for his long service in the small-business community and for his activism at the state capitol on behalf of Arizona Main Street. "Kirk's expertise and dedication to small business have been significant for Arizona's small-business community," Bolton said. "Kirk has testified on numerous occasions before legislative committees. One such occasion concerned a bill to expand the federal Family and Medical Leave Act to include many small businesses. Kirk's testimony proved decisive in killing the bill."
Adams is active on the NFIB/Arizona's Leadership Council and will take over as chair of the group in Jan. 2004. Additionally, he serves as the small-business representative on the Governors Task Force for the Health Care System.
"Kirk's leadership in the small-business community is a tremendous asset, and we are proud to award him the first-ever Small-Business Champion award," said Bolton. "He is a well known and respected advocate on behalf of small business. He has contributed countless hours of advocacy and has been effective in defending the interests of small business."
The Adams Agency is a property and casualty insurance agency established in 1978. It services over 25,000 clients through three offices in Mesa, Apache Junction and Yuma. Kirk Adams and his two partners manage agency operations and its seventeen employees.
