NFIB/Arizona, Influence Future Entrepreneurs as an Education Foundation Mentor
11/21/2003
The NFIB Education Foundation in May 2003 announced the recipients of the first annual NFIB Free Enterprise Scholars Awards, a scholarship program to set future small business owners on the path to entrepreneurship. The 110 Free Enterprise Scholars for 2003 are attending the university, college, community college or vocational/technical institute of their choice with $1,000 in tuition assistance from the NFIB Education Foundation.
And the next generation of entrepreneurs needs your help today. In addition to donating to help fund the Free Enterprise Scholars program, you can also get involved by volunteering to be a mentor to a student through the scholarship process. This might include nominating a student for an award, fielding calls from students in your state with questions about NFIB and the scholarship award, and/or participating in award ceremonies in your area next year.
Since all applicants must be nominated by a dues-paying member of NFIB, this is an excellent way to recognize those students in your area who share the entrepreneurial spirit with you.
For more information, or to volunteer to talk to students in your area, please email Chantel Bartlett at chantel.bartlett@nfib.org or call 1-800-NFIB-NOW. If you agree to be added to the volunteer list, you will only receive calls from students during the application period of Jan. 1-March 31, 2004.
The NFIB Free Enterprise Scholars program is a national effort to identify and recognize high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative. Each year, the NFIB Education Foundation awards $1,000 non-renewable scholarships to a minimum of 100 high-school seniors who have shown an interest in business and entrepreneurship.
Applications for the 2004 Free Enterprise Scholars program are available now at www.NFIB.com/Education and will be accepted from Jan. 1 - March 31, 2004.
