Government Launches e-Customer Service
08/06/2003
In an effort to increase and streamline communication between American citizens and the federal government, the Bush Administration last week launched USA Services, a multimedia government-wide service for citizen inquiries.
Citizens can contact the federal government by telephone at 1-800-FED-INFO or online at the federal government's Web site, FirstGov.gov.
"It's too hard for citizens to know who to contact to get service or information from their federal government," said Mark Forman, Office of Management and Budget e-Gov administrator. "USA Services will change the way the federal government responds to citizens by providing services they want, on their terms."
According to the OMB, USA Services uses existing infrastructure such as the Federal Citizen Information Center and the FirstGov Web site to provide seamless and timely customer service. The OMB expects service quality to improve 35 percent to 95 percent because of USA Services.
