07/31/2003

The NFIB Education Foundation hosted three students in its annual internship program in the nation's capital this summer. The hands-on eight-week program educates students about the critical role that private enterprise and entrepreneurship play in America's success. NFIB is the nation's largest small-business advocacy group and was ranked the most influential business lobbying organization by Fortune magazine.

NFIB President and CEO Jack Faris said, "I think it's important for students to understand the role that government plays in American business and vice versa. NFIB enjoys educating the students about that relationship and appreciates their hard work. We hope that what they've learned here at NFIB will be valuable in their future endeavors."

The interns worked with NFIB's Federal Public Policy Department, Campaign Services Department, and its Legal Foundation. They also participated in a summer program at Georgetown University's Bryce Harlow Institute on Business and Government Affairs, taking two classes that focus on the relationship between free enterprise and government.
