Business Travelers Staying Connected
10/23/2002
For most business travelers, being on the road no longer means being disconnected
from their homes and offices, the New York Times reports.
According to recent research by Yesawich, Pepperdine and Brown, 80 percent of
business travelers carry a cell phone, 40 percent bring a laptop on the road and 25
percent take along a personal digital assistant.
The travel industry is also doing more to make travelers better connected. Some
hotels are considering options such as installing high-tech equipment like
videophones for customer use. A manager of the business center at the Four Seasons
Pierre Hotel in New York told the Times that they have added instant messaging
software to their computers so guests can chat inexpensively with their families.
