Keeping Track of E-tickets
04/ 15/ 2002

Don't let unused tickets mean lost money

by Bob Jones

With electronic tickets, travelers no longer worry about losing a boarding pass. But the major drawback of not having a ticket is if you have to cancel or delay a trip—there is nothing tangible as a reminder. The "e" in e-ticket becomes "e" for elusive as we simply forget it and the associated monetary loss.

Some ideas to keep track of e-tickets:

  • Most online travel sites offer you an option to print a receipt. Do so and keep it in a tickler file.
  • If you are lucky enough to have a travel agent using the Galileo Central Reservation System, ask them to use "E-Status," a software application that allows the agency to scan and track e-tickets for you.
  • Task your accountant or CFO/ comptroller with this duty. Each traveler must still make sure that they enter e-ticket purchases in the company database and flag that entry with a reminder notification for themselves and the accountable company member.
