Make Every Minute Count
06/ 02/ 2004

Make Every Minute Count: 750 Tips and Strategies That Will Revolutionize How You Manage Your Time, by Harlan Lane and Christian Wayser (Marlowe & Co., $14.95).

Hmm, I see what they're trying to do here, with 712 short (mostly) paragraphs of classic time-saving advice, such as "Delegate your signature for invoices and other routine items." The problem is the structure of the book breaks the cardinal rules of time management by being cluttered and difficult to use. It's too easy to end up wasting time thumbing through the book in search of some helpful advice. And the idea of using a small symbol in the margin by each numbered item to represent a tip, an in-depth look at a timesaving theme, or the downside of an idea just doesn't work. Save your time and skip this book.
