Trenton, Nov. 3, 2009 –All or part of the following may be attributed to Laurie Ehlbeck, state director of the National Federation of Independent Business/New Jersey, regarding the results of today’s gubernatorial election.
“After four years of job losses, higher taxes, tolls, fees and mandates, small business owners across New Jersey were ready for change, and tonight they’re celebrating the election of new leadership in Trenton. NFIB was one of the few organizations to publicly endorse the Christie/Guadagno ticket, and our small business members are ready to work with Governor-elect Christie to turn our economy around and save New Jersey jobs.
“Our unemployment rate is the highest it’s been in more than 30 years and our business tax climate was just ranked the worst in the nation—nobody is expecting a miracle overnight. But we’re optimistic that tonight’s election results will bring a renewed focus on improving the business climate on Main Street for our state’s struggling job providers.
“NFIB congratulates the Christie/Guadagno team, and we’re ready to roll up our sleeves to help the new administration get New Jersey back on track.”
