NFIB Joins Workforce Chairman for Jobs Talk

Andy Ellard, chairman of the NFIB/Texas Leadership Council, spoke about job development from the small business owner's perspective at an event this week hosted by the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Texas Workforce Chairman Tom Pauken, who spoke before Ellard, told the crowd that Texas' unemployment rate is the lowest among the largest states in the country, at 8.2%, but warned that we should continue to rely on small businesses - not the government - to create jobs. Ellard is president of Manda Machine Corp. in Dallas. The two other event panelists were Rep. Ken Legler of Pasadena, who is a former member of the NFIB/Texas Leadership Council, and Kurt Summers, president of Austin Generator Service and NFIB member.
