U.S. Rep. Guthrie Supports Small Business
As the House gets closer to voting on healthcare reform legislation, NFIB continues to emphasize that not just any reform measure will do. Proposals must offer solutions that improves the situation rather than making things worse for small business owners and their employees. NFIB supports reforms that balance the competing goals of access to quality care, affordability, predictability and consumer choice. NFIB works closely with members of Congress to advocate for policies on behalf of our members.
In support of these reforms, U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie made comments recently on the House floor stating how a government-run healthcare plan would hit small business with hundreds of billions of dollars in new taxes. Rep. Guthrie recognizes small business as a key player in the healthcare debate, saying "imposing taxes on small businesses that are doing all they can to stay afloat is not a viable answer and could make job losses even worse." Rep. Guthrie worked for his family's small business prior to running for Congress. He has first-hand knowledge of the important role small businesses play in the local and national economy. Please watch this video of his brief comments.
NFIB thanks Rep. Guthrie and other members of Congress for their support for small business as the healthcare debate moves forward. To learn more about NFIB's position on healthcare reform, please visit FixedForAmerica.com and share your healthcare story with us.
