NFIB/FL to Testify on Small Business Priorities Next Week

Legislative Affairs Director Allen Douglas will be testifying on small business priorities for the 2010 Legislative Session Nov. 4 before the House Economic Development and Community Affairs Policy Council.

The testimony will focus on the importance of small business to Florida’s economy and the need for the state to do whatever possible to reduce taxes and eliminate unnecessary regulations to help businesses recover from the recession and begin growing and hiring again.

We will also be speaking on the crisis facing small business in regard to the state’s unemployment compensation trust fund. The fund officially ran out of money in August and is currently borrowing from the federal government to pay Florida's unemployed. We intend to work this year to prevent further taxes or assessments from being imposed on businesses in order to continue to support the fund.

Prior to the committee meeting, we invite you to share with us your perspective as a small business owner on what’s most affecting you. If you are an NFIB member with input on small business priorities for 2010, please e-mail Allen.Douglas@nfib.org.
